As usual, your Board has been very active over the past few months.   At the February meeting, we concluded that we were not yet achieving the results we wanted on traffic calming.   We decided to prepare for a more extensive letter-writing campaign from residents.  Fortunately, our continued calling efforts—to council members and to County Executive Ike Leggett- got us an unusually timely meeting with Councilman Berliner plus Planning, DPWT, and others.  Give a special thanks here to Bill King, our Traffic Chair.  We obtained some positive results as discussed on the front page.   We can put off the campaign for now and enjoy this success, but we will still have to be vigilant given the inevitable traffic impact that comes with all the new residential and commercial development around us.

I am especially glad to see the current activities we have on the books that do not involve traffic, zoning, and development.  The sold-out tour of some of Washington’s monuments was a huge success on a brilliantly sunny Sunday.   Thanks so much to Judy Morenoff’s organizational efforts and Ellen Gold’s expertise as guide.  Also, our sensational 70th Anniversary events are coming up the weekend of April 12 and 13 under Lynn Water’s tireless leadership.  I hope you will put the enclosed schedule on your refrigerator.  These are great opportunities for getting together.

This edition of the Greensheet represents the beginning of some alterations that we will try out for at least the next two editions.  April Chang will coordinate the production and see if we can keep all of the good features that we have all enjoyed for so long while adding some new items in response to the Board and community.   Please let us know what you like and don’t like about the new Greensheet by communicating with me or April Chang.  You should also give a special thanks to all the Greensheet editors - Shirley Baker, Eleanor Black, Eileen Gatti, Ellen Gold, Cathy O’Donnell, Lois Proger, Jennifer Russel, Beryl Tretter, and Sheila Wolpert,  - and Marilyn Hammerman as “Chief Organizer”,  for their many hours of hard work getting out the bi-monthly Greensheets for many years.

Please note the May 21 General Meeting and plan to attend.  We need your input.  Also, remember that all committee reports are on our website, www.luxmanor.org. And, as usual, I am available for any concerns or questions you have about LCA activities and our neighborhoods.  Please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or email.
